No Acting Troupe on 213

There was no mention of the Acting Troupe on PotterCast #213, either in the regular version or the video version. Just wanted to update about that.

Cheers! Rosie

PotterCast 213 is up, Affiliation, Akismet installed

I got a tweet on my feed about the newest PotterCast being up. No mention of the troupe in the show notes, but now that the 1st story is complete, I’m not so worried about that.

You’ll notice something new in the sidebar — a link button for Leaky. I have finally sent them an affiliation request. I just realized that I forgot to send my link button though! Oops! I better send that right now!

While I wait for my computer to load…as promised I did install the Akismet plugin, which should hopefully help curb the spam comments I get on here. I have even gotten spam comments in Russian that (according to my Babelfish translation of them) were advertising porn. Yuck!

Ok I sent the button. Yay! Bye for now!

They noticed me!

I was just listening to PotterCast 212, the end-of-2009 episode, right now on the way to church, and Melissa, John, and Frak talked about how the Acting Troupe had come into being in 2009. Some new info came out of this bit — that the full “Albus Potter” bit would be released for purchase, either on iTunes or Leaky, with the proceeds going to the Harry Potter Alliance, and that there were plans to interview those involved in the troupe on PotterCast this year (yay!).

But the best thing came after that, when Melissa said, “You know, they have a fansite now.” To which John replied, “They deserve it.”

Now I know pctroupe.net is the only PotterCast Acting Troupe fansite out there, so to get mentioned like that on the show was AWESOME!! I guess my e-mails and mention of the site on MyLeaky paid off after all. It’s definitely a big step.

In other news, I transcribed a list of the cast and crew of each episode, so I’ll be adding that soon. I still don’t know who plays who.

I’ll also probably be adding the Akimset plugin to this site, which helps block spam, since people leave spam comments here a lot.

So I just wanted to post about that. Happy (belated) New Year, everyone!

P.S. Later in the show, they played the clip where the person who plays Albus in the troupe appeared on “Are You Smarter than John Noe?”. They called her (yes, it’s a girl) Izzy, confirming that Izzy Martin plays Albus. Other than that, I don’t know who played which roles.

A Successful Conclusion to the First Story

I finally listened to episode 211 of PotterCast tonight, which contained the finale to Albus Potter and the Founder’s Fountain, the debut story for the PotterCast Acting Troupe. The finale was very well done, and I am glad it has finally been aired. I hope they still release the whole thing as one file digitally; that would be a very nice listen. I’ll let you know if they do.

I’m going to update the site with stuff from episode 6, but after that it may be a while before I post again, depending on how long it takes for the troupe to do another story. If the wait is anything like it’s been for this finale, it could be quite a while. I suppose I could still comb the podcasts for any mention of the troupe, like if John ever gives them an info page on pottercast.com. I think I need to e-mail Chloe the Witchy Helper again and find out why she hasn’t gotten back to me. I may also trawl the Acting Troupe thread on the Leaky Lounge for any pearls of information I can find. Plus, as I said before, I may do something with the layout. I found I’m liking the theme, just not the banner. I suppose that can be remedied.

If I don’t post for a while, Happy New Year to you all!

A Pleasant Christmas Surprise

Merry Christmas everybody! I was just quickly checking my Twitter feed and saw that the newest episode of PotterCast, number 211 or the Christmas episode, was up. So I checked it out, and what should I see in the show notes but…the finale of the Albus Potter story! Yes! It’s about time! I’ll post more once I listen to the episode. I’ll also update the site accordingly. Once again, Merry Christmas!

No acting troupe on 210, no Christmas release?, site plans

I just finished listening to PotterCast 210, and there was no mention of the acting troupe, again. I hope it will return!

Jingle Spells 3 is coming out soon, though. As I posted before, there was talk of digitally releasing the full “Albus Potter and the Founders’ Fountain” story for Christmas, along with Jingle Spells 3. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, since the acting troupe hasn’t even been mentioned on PotterCast for several episodes now. But who knows? If they put episode 6 in next week’s show, there might still be time for the full release to be out by Christmas.

Now, some site-related news. This is my last week of school for the semester, so I’m going to spend my about month-long winter break working on my websites, including this one. I will probably try to spruce up the layout, for one. (If that doesn’t happen during break, it will most likely happen during next semester, when I intend to start my web design certificate with a class in Photoshop and a class in Graphic Design).

I’m also going to submit the URL to Google, since I found out how to do that. As I mentioned, this site does appear on Google already, but submitting the URL should help it place higher in the search hits. I’m going to try to affiliate with Leaky as well, in hopes of getting some exposure for the site.

Well, that’s all for now. Bye!

Number 209 – No Acting Troupe Mention

I listened to PotterCast #209 today and there was no mention of the acting troupe. The episode was still amusing since the last 20 minutes of the recording (after the PotterCast technically ended) were of Melissa, John, and Frak (Sue was absent from the show due to some “personal stuff”) attempting to do a podcast about Avatar: The Last Airbender, which they say is a very “Harry Potter sort of show.”

Now, I’m not above taking recommendations from the PotterCast troop (Melissa’s recommendation got me to read the His Dark Materials trilogy, and I may read some of the books her book club was reading, like The Hunger Games) but from the very little I know about Avatar: The Last Airbender, it doesn’t seem Harry Potter-ish to me. I always saw it as being more like an anime, but American-produced — or an Amerime, as we anime fans used to call American-produced animated series with anime-style animation.

Anyway, just wanted to report that. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

No troupe on 209

Hey guys. Long time no post!

Unfortunately, there’s nothing new to report. The newest PotterCast (#209) is up, and there is again no mention of the acting troupe in the show notes. I said before that in order to have a digital release of the whole story out for Christmas, they’d have to have episode 6 out by most likely Thanksgiving at the latest. Well, Thanksgiving’s less than a week away now, and still no episode 6! What’s going on?

Other than the e-mail from Chloe, I haven’t gotten anybody at Leaky to pay any attention to this site — though I put a link to it on my MyLeaky profile. Maybe if I got people at Leaky to notice this site, that would bring results. It’s worth a shot. I don’t know how to do that though.

I’ll try to think of something. I’ll keep you posted.

No mention on #208

Just a quick update — the acting troupe was not mentioned at all in PotterCast 208. I just got to listen to a long news segment, the interesting conclusion to the Potter Pundits’ discussion on Gothic elements in Harry Potter (stuff the English major/bookworm/lit geek in me enjoys), and a long drums that was mostly about how Melissa has started playing World of Warcraft as a way of relaxing and “turning her brain off.”

So anyway, our suspense continues. Bye for now!
